Title: The Beauty in Scars
Author: M.L. Philipitt
Series: Fractured Ever Afters #3
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

I thought this was a quite a cute story based off of Beauty and the Beast. I absolutely love retellings. I think this retelling was quite a captivating story. I enjoyed the many notable references to the "Beauty and the Beast" fairytale through this story that only made it more enjoyable. The Beauty in Scars is a modern version of the original Beauty and the Beast.

I also enjoyed the two main characters Isabelle and Rafe. Rafe appears out on nowhere on Isabelle's doorstep, announcing that her father is dead, unending Isabelle's whole world. Rafe can't help the way he's drawn to Belle and how he needs to protect her. Isabelle was quite sheltered and scarred young woman who escapes through the world of books. Before Isabelle knows it, she's caught up inside the world of the Mafia, seeing that there is so much more to life than what she's use to. The chemistry that Rafe and Isabelle have for one another was palpable throughout this story. Rafe is quite a the gentlemen throughout getting to know Isabelle. They definitely weren't a love at first sight couple but they weren't enemies either.

The Beauty in Scars is the third stand alone in the Fractured Ever After series, though its recommended to read the stories in order. I'm excited to see what the author has in store for us in the next book.
