This book sucked, you can't tell me otherwise. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

Anyway, I loved Tomas and Matt; they were my favorite characters, but of course, all good characters must die. ALSO, as a dancer, I hated autumn, more so her writing. I just hated the representation for the dancers okay? Like, no, if I got shot in the knee I wouldn't feel like 'i'm trapped in a pirouette (spin/turn)'. SO YEAH DONT READ THIS BOOK IF 1 YOU GET ATTACHED TO CHARACTERS 2 YOU ARE A DANCER.
But seriously don't joke about school shootings. thank youuuuuuu

This book revolves around the POV of 4 main characters experiencing a school shooting. Obviously a difficult subject to write on and one that’s going to upset people one way or the other. I’m left feeling bummed out, but in a satisfying way. I don’t love every aspect of this book, however I think the author did what she intended to. To invoke emotion through writing is a talent

TW/CW: mass shooting, gun violence, mentions of abuse, mentions of grief, mentions of Alzheimer's, mentions of rape.

Reading this was painful. Upsetting. I probably won't read another book like it in the future.

Tyler said he "didn't want to be alone anymore". He was never alone. He isolated himself in his grief and then when he successfully pushed ppl away, he turned that grief to anger. I can't feel bad for him though. He wasn't a good person before the shooting. As much as autumn tried to paint him as a saint because he was there for her. he's homophobic, a rap*st, and manipulative/controlling.

Every time I read this book, it emotionally destroys me. It is similar to an out-of-body experience. You will cry if you read this, even if you usually don't. It is a deep and sickeningly realistic depiction of what it is like to experience trauma and its effects on the community, including the beginnings of collective community trauma. There is a main character who is a queer domestic violence survivor, and her story is so thought out, so real it is as though she is guiding you through this book. this read hurt my heart and helped me feel.
