“All that has been given life, shall have an end.”

This quote is repeated throughout the novel and resonated deeply with me each and every time. And WHAT A STORY. The world-building and magical system development was seamless and I felt so thoroughly immersed in the story. Elora’s story was so well-written, with her mental struggles around her past and magic (or lack thereof). Her brusque nature made me love her more, especially in relation to her first meeting with Sorin, the male MC who appears to be charming almost 24/7. They decide to help each other and work together, along with a group of friends, to reach a common destination all while realizing they have a deeper connection than either realized. On that journey, things do not go as expected and we learn SO MUCH MORE about the main characters and related pasts/intertwined fates. Once I reached the half-way mark, I couldn’t stop reading. The urgency to know the ending got the better of me and I ended up looking ahead and spoiling some major elements so DON’T DO WHAT I DID. But seriously, DO read this. It’s incredible and the female MC, struggling, fighting, and finally accept g those voices within her, is reason enough to pick up this book and start reading. I’m still thrumming from adrenaline after just finishing the book and I cannot recommend it enough.

Please make sure to read the warnings in the book. The story contains multiple violent encounters, an FMC that struggles with her mental health, and there are a few consensual adult situations throughout.

I’ll say it again, GO READ THIS BOOK. Please read it so you sit with me and the other readers while we all desperately wait for the next book to drop, especially with THAT brutal cliffhanger.

Absolutely loved this book. Robin Hood has always been one of my favorite stories and having it themed with PNW vibes was perfect. The mental health rep in the book is incredible and to see Elora work through the intrusive thoughts was beautiful and I can’t wait to see how she continues to do that in the next book.

Sorin is cheeky and full of sunshine and mischief. Sam is badass and I hope we get to see more of her.

I’ve been finished with this book for a little while now, but it’s taken me a bit to process.

Through the Wicked Wood is exactly the fantasy read I was craving!
I'm so glad I took my time reading this gem of a book. I loved everything about it! Overcoming grief, healing, the unleashing of strength, the romance, adventure, WOLVES and the betrayal! I ate it all up!
All of the amazing characters! I want to know more about all of them. I'm so happy Elora opened herself to her found family and didn't give in to her intrusive thoughts. I love sweet imperfect Sorin, but Jarek?!
Swoon!
I can't wait to read the next book and all the other books Kristen writes. You should definitely get a move on if you haven't read Through the Wicked Wood yet.
