This was such a solid first book in a cozy series. Wesley spends time giving each character dimensionality and growth, and by the end I found myself sympathizing so much with some of this cast that I found intolerable at the start of the book, which is pretty rare of me! I enjoyed the way that Odessa's magic is portrayed, and how complicated her relationship is with her gifts and her family.
Definitely continuing with the series, and recommend to people who want just a touch of magic in an otherwise realistic story and a cozy with as much emphasis on depth as enjoyable food.
