The Tour De France before the Tour De France.
Not the best Asterix, but even at not the best, Asterix is still great!

French friends visiting for a week provided the opportunity to get out all the Astérix books. This is based on a very clever idea, but perhaps isn't quite as successful as some of the others; nonetheless it still has a lot of character and is very funny in places.
Naturally the original French allows all the jokes and puns to be fully appreciated: Goscinny was a master in that respect.

*3.5 Stars*
I snickered in a few places, but I think a lot of the region-based jokes flew right over my South Asian head. Ah well.

The second comic book about Asterix read with my six year old nephew Stanley (the Polish version) :) He wants more!
The Banquet is a fun installment: it has a lot of different places & people, and more than the usual amount of jokes (running gags, puns, visual jokes, etc.) The plot is interesting and it leads to a lot of creative and unusual situations.
