Fake dating trope always be my favorite. And this one IS THE BEST ONE. I REALLY LOVE IT. I love chemistry between Eliza and Caz. I love Ann Liang writing too. I can't stop giggling, kicking my feet, guling guling di kasur SOALNYA GEMES BANGET.

But, buku nya gak cuma bahas cerita antara Eliza sama Caz doang. Eliza selalu pindah pindah gitu kan, jadi dia ga pernah punya temen tetep.

This book deserve all 5 stars. I love the story, love the writing, the characters. EVERYTHING. Kalau lagi pengen baca cerita cinta young adult yang ringan bisa bikin ketawa sampe guling guling gak jelas, ini cocok banget sih.

ANN LIANG WRITE A BOOK FOR ADULTS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!

all i am is a girlfailure and that’s okay cause so is the main heroine of this novel.

didn’t expect to cry but did. thrice. i might have some unresolved issues i wasn’t aware of.

some truly beautiful and touching excerpts. & other than the very last ‘plot twist’ impeccable structure. no-one’s book has ever impressed me with such a careful and compelling way of raising the stakes.

When you care about someone, you want to be inconvenienced—you wouldn’t mind being inconvenienced by them every day for the rest of your life. That’s what love is. That’s all love really is.

so i finallyyyy found a contemporary romance that i liked?! i think that this was exactly what i needed at the moment. something lighthearted and fun that did not require a lot of brain power but still had an engaging plot that did not make it boring. the relationships and the characters were so fun and entertaining and i'm so glad to have loved them all.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ eliza
literally give me a fmc who struggles with her identity and i will EAT IT UP. listen, as someone who had to leave my birth country and my immediate family, i understand her fully. her struggle and her experience with the loss of language and culture HIT. ME. HARD. which made me tear up in some sections. she's such a relatable girl with very real issues that is just so reflective of a lot of issues that teen girls have. i fully believe that if i read this a year or two ago then i would have full on sobbed because of how much i love eliza.

I guess my point is that I do believe in love. Really. I'm just not convinced that kind of love could ever happen to me.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ caz
AHHHHHHH literally the ideal book bf. the GREENEST green-flag ever. i like how he isn't the typical "i-want-to-follow-my-dreams-but-i-have-unsupportive-parents" type of male lead. he isn't the typical "misunderstood" but cocky guy. he has realistic struggles but is also a very charming and charismatic guy.

He’d flirt with a teaspoon if the situation called for.

honestly have never loved a cast of characters more. they're all so likeable and relatble and i'm so glad no one betrayed the main characters. i do think that there are certainnn characters that i wish we could see more of. overall, i love the supportive friends, families, and co-workers. it was such a wholesome cast.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ elcaz
a little bit biased because they remind me of my bf and i but AHHH. loved them so so much. i have read so many books with the fake dating trope and this has made its way to the TOP. they had so many whole some moments like THE MOTORCYCLE. THE PAPERCRANES. THE INTERVIEW. THE RAIN. i could go on and on. the relationship build-up was so realistic and sweet. everything just happened so naturally and it made me love this book even more. i honestly think elcaz should be the standard for young adult relationships and i stand by that.

There’s something strangely intimate about calling someone in the dark. It’s like listening to your favorite song in the middle of a crowded subway; the world narrows down to just you and this voice in your ear, while everyone else around you goes about their lives, completely oblivious. It feels sacred. Like a secret.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ overall
i HIGHLY recommend this book for ya contemporary romance lovers. it's filled with great tropes while still having an engaging plotline. the mcs are very likeable and relatable people. ann liang is now an auto read author and i'll be reading so many more of her works!

ps. as always all my reviews are strictly MY OPINION and that you should experience a book for yourself to form your own opinions :) happy reading!
