Took me a while to read because I needed to take mental health breaks. It was so hard to read about the horrific men in this book. But I would recommend it to everyone, especially your male partners and sons!
.25 knocked off because it was a little long in some places where it repeated a bit

A frightening read, but an important one, and I really appreciated how compassionate Bates was able to be throughout this, despite the difficult subject material and the suffering she has undergone herself at the hands of some of the individuals mentioned. This was really well balanced and well put together, really well structured and the scope was great. Really recommend.

Bates proves her mastery of not just informational writing, but also presenting her knowledge to her audience in a cohesive and understandable way. She used excellent metaphors, referenced very reliable sources, and connected her idea brilliantly.

An informative and well written book, Laura Bates does a great job to explore the different communities and the problems that they create for our world and how society is making them worse. This book will make you feel anger, sadness, fear, and nausea but it provides an eye opening view that we should all be aware of in order to make a difference against misogyny.

I can’t say I *enjoyed* this book. But I appreciate the importance of this kind of research. And I hugely admire Laura Bates for having the dedication (and stomach) to write it!

I found it very interesting, and even though it made my anxiety shoot through the roof, I could not stop reading. As well as examining extreme levels of misogyny, I feel like Bates took care not to generalise, and was even sympathetic to some of the subjects in this book (where sympathy was due!). The result is an incredibly fair and nuanced look at “Men Who Hate Women”.
