The start of this volume was so boring. Less CCG, more Kaneki plz.

For much of this volume, we get to see the ghoul hunters. They're dealing with the aftermath of the big fight; Juzo gets his new ghoul-made weapon, which he loves. Amon gets a new partner, and she's Mado's daughter, and she's very not-caring of the hierarchy. Nagachika also shows up, in a surprising way.

In the latter half, we finally get to see what Kaneki has been up to. He's on the hunt for information, to find out what is going on and why he was turned like this. What's going on with Rize, and why are there more ghouls like him? He's finding clues, and he's taking out the bad ghouls along his way. He's still wanting to do good things, and still wanting to help out the humans, but he's got bigger problems that he's focusing on right now. I like the way this is presented, too, going back and forth in time.

We're getting close to the end of this series. I'm intrigued to see where it goes from here.

Despite reading a lot of mixed reviews on this volume, I thought it was FABULOUS!! I think it may be because there were hardly any action scenes in it which made it very easy to understand what was happening. I enjoyed the various stories dedicated to the investigators and Juuzou Suzuya is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. Dare I say that Tsukiyama is also growing on me? I love how morally grey he is and I don’t trust him AT ALL but what can I say...he is charming in a sinister way.

This volume revealed quite a bit and that ENDING!!! I did not see that coming! Consider me SHOOK!

I can’t wait to start volume 10!

Behold! The SPOILERS

Well, this was disappointing. After the previous two volumes that were really good this just feels like a major letdown. Literally half of this volume is about those stupid investigators and the other half is about Kaneki looking like he’s about to become a mafia boss - it’s not great either since the characters that were there before (Touka, Yomo, etc.) are not there and that sucks.

I did like Kaneki and the others returning to the 20th ward but honestly, that's the only good part of this volume. I really liked how he gave Touka that white rabbit for her birthday and the scene where she met Hinami was also really cute. Though I'm slightly mad at Kaneki for refusing to meet Touka. Two other scenes that made me feel great were Tsukiyama giving Hina a flower and telling her that she's a woman, and Kaneki coming out of the shower shirtless.

Unfortunately, there's a lot I didn't like here. Mainly, anything regarding the investigators. I mean, sure we find out some interesting things such as that Hide works part-time at the investigator agency, that Amon's new coworker is Mado' s daughter and that Amon is an orphan who was being cared for by a ghoul, but none of these things make up for the mediocre plot.

Overall, this was far from the previous two volumes. I hope we go uphill from here but I'm afraid it might take us a while before we get to the really good stuff again. I'm giving this 2 stars and I hope it improves in the future.
