Yeah, yeah -- it's got the depth of a really good Premiere Magazine article (which I was reading regularly in 1999), but it's more than just a nostalgia-trip. Really puts the films in context (and what an INSANE year for films), and reasons why we're likely to never get a year of films this good again...

Really interesting, entertaining look at the laundry list of great movies that came out in 1999. Tons of actor and director interviews. I’d seen most of the movies and was initially trying to hold off to see them all before I finished it but I don’t feel it’s necessary.
I was 15 in 1999 and I absolutely credit that year as the one that got me into movies. Before that I maybe went to theatre 5 times a year. In 1999 I was going at least twice a week. While this book was never going to be perfect as there were some movies I wasn't that interested in and some I felt were omitted, it was still a consistently entertaining read into a cinema year I hold very dear to me.

I was 12 years old in 1999, and it was the year that my love of movies really took off. This book does a fantastic job of taking you back to that time period, by chronicling all the noteworthy films from that year, as well as providing some valuable historical context.
If you like movies, I would highly recommend this book.

Well-researched and written in a way that maintains your interest throughout. This film-by-film description of the cinematic releases of 1999 reminds you both how great a year that was for film and how great film can be in general.
