"Because when you're not considered to be a threat, you can get away with much, much more."

I'm just annoyed with this book & don't want to write a full review. It started out SO WELL, and I was super invested in the story. The first part was so good. Then it went off the rails into soap opera territory, and I completely lost interest because it was so over-the-top. This book didn't end up really being about what it seemed it was going to be about, and I really didn't care for the direction it went in.

John Marrs is so good at writing characters that are so wicked and manipulative that I feel bad for them and have to remind myself they’re awful

It was incredibly hard to decide what to rate this book so I just gave it 3 stars. The entire first part of the book was so slow and boring. I kept reading because there HAD to be a reason it has such good ratings on here and Amazon. lol. Part Two was really good and Part Three was just ok to me. I liked aspects of it. It was a different concept than what I normally read so I definitely liked that about it. I don't know. Just...meh.
