For the most part, I enjoyed this book and am enjoying this series. My one big criticism is that - like a lot of UF, admittedly - it is taking the alpha male thing too far.

I don't like Lucas. At all. Yes, maybe she shouldn't have stayed with her grandmother for three months, but here's the deal: he doesn't get a say. She'd known him for like three days. I don't care about the magical hooha bullshit that means apparently she's his fated mate. She knows nothing about that, nor about pack structure. She's not responsible for whatever trouble is going on in your pack - she didn't ask to join, nor did he ask her to join. Lucas is taking a lot of shit for granted, and he's taking unforgivable advantage of the situation. He tells her nothing, and uses her as if she's his pawn. He's, in my opinion, even worse than Sig. He has no right to act the way he's acting, and frankly, I wish she'd kicked him in the nuts.

Yes, she's giving Lucas a little bit of a hard time, but nowhere near as much as I think she should be. And when
SpoilerDesmond showed up and informed her he was moving in with her - she got no say in the matter at all -
well frankly, that was completely unacceptable to me. I get that her relationship with Desmond is a little softer, but he's there not by anyone's choice, and they can both fuck right off. The fact that she accepted it is baffling to me, and it seriously undercuts her character. If I wanted to read a series where sex makes everything forgivable, I'd go back to Anita Blake.

Secret is not a badass to me. She's a tool that is content to be used by anyone who is interested in picking her up. Whether it is a vampire or a wolf. If she doesn't mature pretty quickly and demand that she's treated with respect - by everyone - then I won't last much longer with this series. Because while I like it and the world, I'm so unhappy with how she allows herself to be treated that I can't really enjoy it much. She lets all these assholes negotiate with her life as if they have a right to it. It's presumptuous of them, and it makes me literally loathe them. And think less of her. What has the werewolf king given in exchange for all he's taken? Nothing. I'd tell him to take his pack and shove it up his ass, because I'm not interested in his leash.

If this doesn't change, I'm out.

Ok..this is technically a re-read, even though it doesnt show it here. Sometimes I just read too much to keep up on here..lol. I always liked this one..the threat over Holden's head and the outcome that is completely unexpected and just a little shocking. Still dont like Lucas...grrr...I guess there has to be one person in books that you just wont like no matter what they do. he is just way too cold for me..

I'm sick of Secret's inability to choose a man. I also really, really dislike the romantic interests introduced in this book. The only reason I keep giving this series 3 stars is because the story's good, action's good, and everything else is good, it's just the romance keeping me from giving it 4 stars. I don't think I can continue this series. The romance really doesn't appeal to me.

First of all there will be spoilers from book 1 as I am gonna squee and ramble on.

I read book 1 today and thought, why did no one tell me the series is so good?! (ok maybe they did and I did not listen). After finishing it I had a serious case of withdrawal and you know I had to get more. So I had to get and start book 2 and I did not put it down. No dinner was made today, the dishes from yesterday's dinner is still in the sink, the bed was not made. You get the point. I was all about schhhhhh! I am reading today.

So what made it so good? A great heroine that goes her own way, and is both vampire and werewolf. And in the last book she found out she is soulbound, not only to the werewolf king but to his second in command too. Sure Lucas is good and rich, but I am lusting over Desmond more. Just cos he was more willing to stand there at the side watching them court. I heart Desmond. But, all is not good, honestly I need to read more! In the last book there was a mention that her vampire side will find someone too. And I am dying to know who it is, someone knew? Holden? ..the freaky Finn Sig?

You know a series is good if I read 2 in a day. And when I want the books in print as I read ebooks.

Recommended of course. And I need more..mooooore.

I enjoyed this book but I'd have enjoyed it a lot more if it didn't have multiple love interests (I often feel like it's used as an easy way to add conflict to a story), and I really hate the whole magic means I have to love more than one person thing, it always seems to be used as a way to prevent the characters being responsible for their actions which just irritates me.

I also don't feel like we've really got to know any of the characters other than Secret.
SpoilerThe wolves declarations that they love Secret seem to come out of nowhere, they barely know her how can they fall in love wit her?

Found the plot in this was dragged a bit more than the first one but I still read it over a couple sittings. I also didn't have issues with Secret's characterization, like many of the other reviewers on here did. Already reading the next one!

meh. it's short, it's quick. It isn't wonderful writing or even a good storyline but it's fast and easy.

Love love love this series! But I feel like Secret has wayyy too many love interests. She needs to really narrow it down. Hopefully she picks Holden ;)

This book is a typical book which the literary snobs and self-appointed guardians of moral would consider trash literature. Maybe even a candidate for a little book burning among friends in their inner circles. It is made up of a decent enough but somewhat thin and certainly not very challenging plot which ties together outburst of violence mixed up with a healthy dose of carnal pleasures. Well, I am hardly a literary snob and I just happen to like reading these kind of books from time to time.

Our heroine is a genuine bad-ass who runs by the rule that, if at first you do not succeed with violence use more violence. Okay, maybe I am exaggerating a wee bit but the there are a fair amount of bones being crunched in this book. I generally like bad-ass heroes so I do indeed like our heroine. Her inclination to think about sex as soon as she sees a muscular male can be a bit annoying though. Actually, as far as I am concerned, the sex parts are really only there to fill out the thin plot and to widen the audience of the book. That is fair enough though. I read the first book so I knew pretty much what I was going to get with this one.

As a whole I found this book to be enjoyable reading. Not exactly a literary challenge but enjoyable and perfectly fitting the kind of book I was in the mode for when reading it. I do like the kick-ass heroine as well as her werewolf companions. Well, her rather spoiled and obstinate behavior towards the werewolf king annoyed me a bit but that is a rather minor thing.

The next book in this series are most certainly going onto my to-read shelf.
