This book assumes quite a bit of foreknowledge. Quite often, I found myself wondering what in the world it was talking about, as some of it was describing foreign languages, especially Latin and Greek, which it did not give the meaning of. Perhaps in the 1960s, the numismatic community which would read this book had an extensive education in the classics, but 50 years later I am not so lucky. This made a small portion of the book unreadable. Additionally, by this time, there were certainly relatively high-resolution methods of capturing images of coins. Why the author chose to use what amount to woodcuts of the coins and place them on plates at the back of the book is beyond me.
