Honestly didn't care for it at all. It lacked really any emotion or good dialogue. I don't think the characters were compelling at all or very likeable.
I really really wanted to like this book. It seemed to have all of the elements of something that I'd very much enjoy, so I was pretty disappointed when I realized (very early on) that this book sucks. It's written in present tense which is just weird and doesn't really lend itself to inner monologue and character reflection (which in my opinion is one of the best ways to portray robust characters that are actually likable), the dialog was so cringey that it sounded like it was written by a 14 year old boy, and nothing about the story, or the world, really made any sense. It's like the author just came up with a long list of things he thought sounded really cool, and smashed them all together with no concern as to whether or not there was any logic or cohesion to it. I thought about giving up on it many, many times, but I didn't, so for that I guess it gets 2 dumb stars.

Everything is way too on-the-nose but more importantly, it's all too goofy; the imagery is goofy, the characters are goofy, everything is goofy. It's supposed to be satirical but it's so damn gratuitous. You could get away with this in a short story but in a novel? It's hard to read.

Really enjoyed the story and the backstory behind it. It was fun seeing it all come together. Could really picture the world they were living in.

I think this book has a very interesting way of portraying life with virtual reality. The dystopian landscape felt very realistic and I liked that.
However... what made me put this book down to such a low rating, is that in one of the later chapters, there is a sex scene described between an adult man and a 15 year old girl. This is not just mentioned, but described. This graphic scene involving a minor made me disgusted. If this one scene hadn't been included, I probably would've given the book a 3 or maybe even a 4 star rating.
