Some great ideas, doesn’t take itself too seriously, but not a fan of the last few chapters.

this was my favorite book when i was 17, reading it again i see why it was my favorite when i was 17! definitely is very 90s, can be pretty corny and not the most PC but still really interesting and an engrossing read. would recommend!

This book hits the "annoying tech - bro six layers of irony technobabble" throttle so hard it breaks the cringe barrier and becomes really, really fun. Its the metal gear rising of books. It rocks. Seeing the Metaverse mentioned in this book and it's plot boiling down to "don't build the metaverse and its mirror physical world" is pretty... disconcerting though.

...Buuuut its not for everyone, and has some pacing issues. So 3.75

I wonder what Stephenson would think about his book in today's world where some people actually fly to meet an Avatar that he thinks is real person. Some people are really getting lost in technology.
