Again, I started off thinking I would hate this story due to its convoluted beginning. I loved it.

I think I loved this even more than the first volume. You can't really go wrong when you've got super smart, interesting, atypical characters, a weird mix of occult and technological goings on, and a well told, compelling narrative. There's a particularly brilliant section with a monologue tying together a lifetime of any and all sexual experiences that is equal parts hilarious and important to the character. After the first volume cast the net wide to introduce the premise and the major players involved, this one focuses mostly on the one character, making it a lot easier to follow. Hopefully subsequent volumes will do the same giving you plenty of time with each character whilst adding pieces to the bigger picture as it goes. The mix of detective story and mysticism worked really well here so fingers crossed we keep getting the same balance of humour, weirdness, strong characters and smart, compelling story as it progresses. I think we're in good hands though.

I liked this better than the first. I found the focus character in this comic to be much more compelling.

Postmodern POC-centric science fantasy. Leans headlong into the Apocalypse, and it's not afraid to be ambiguous, queer, and messy. Stellar emotional and visual texture.

Finally get my hands on vol. 2 and finished it in one run. Warren definitely takes the story to an exciting place and can't wait to see how it will continue. Injection is definitely a must-read. With it's story, characters, dialogues and commentaries about the Now, it already made itself a classic in my eyes.

(So far I am decidedly not let down.)

(I cannot stop thinking about Viv mourning his "perfectly seasoned" human roast being confiscated. I love my horrible adult children.)

I had some qualms going into volume two of Injection because of the problems I had with volume one. Unfortunately, I had some of the same issues with this one.

The handling of the plot in this series thus far is not my favorite thing. It is not told in a linear fashion - I don't have a problem with flashbacks in stories, but many didn't seem to have a point that was relevant to the greater story. This is also the kind of story that leaves a lot unexplained until you read further.

I did think these issues were not quite as bad in volume two as in volume one, however. There was also some much needed character development in; I'm glad I'm getting to know these characters more - maybe even getting fond of them? I am also still a big fan of the concept of a sentient technology wreaking various kinds of havoc around the world. This concept was blended with mythology in volume one, which I particularly enjoyed, yet volume two lacked this. I definitely hope the mythology is brought back!
