I found all of the stories to be a bit dull; they were all morality tales where the poor people teach the rich the meaning of Christmas and then end up benefiting from it. Which is fine, except it was basically the same story a bunch of times.

That being said, this edition is gorgeous, so i went with 3 stars instead of 2

“Never mind, birdie,” whispered Tilly. “We’ll make the best of what we have and be merry in spite of our lack. You shall have a happy Christmas, anyway, and I know God won’t forget us, even if everyone else does.”

A lovely compilation of some of Louisa May Alcott’s Christmas stories, including a chapter from Little Women, a book I read earlier this year. I read this collection during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It sure gets you in a festive mood and makes you think. It reminds us what Christmas is truly about: being selfless, the joy of giving, and spending time with those you love.

“You see, when people once begin to do kindnesses, it is so easy and pleasant, they find it hard to leave off; and sometimes it beautifies them so that they find they love one another very much.”

I love Louisa May Alcott's writing. It is absolutely wonderful to read. This entire book was pure coziness! Definitely a book to reread every year around the Christmas time

This is a quaint collection of Christmas short stories centered on generosity and charity from Louisa May Alcott. I loved two of them more than the others. One of the stories threw me for a loop when I realized it was from the perspective of a horse! Aside from that, there were lovely lines and sentiments sprinkled throughout all the stories like these lines:

"Sometimes when we least expect it, a small cross proves a lovely crown, a seemingly unimportant event becomes a lifelong experience, or a stranger becomes a friend."

"[Waste] no time dreaming about what may happen, but bravely [make] each day a comfort and pleasure to yourself and others."

I enjoyed reading this collection slowly, while sipping some tea beside my own Christmas tree. 🎄
