This book definitely me see that I shouldn't make negative thoughts of myself. It helped me have more healthy habits and to learn how to love myself.

I listened to the audio book and I do think the fact that the author read it means that her inflections improved the delivery. I could see how if you’re just reading it it would come off as obvious and lame. I concluded listening feeling inspired, hopeful, and confident about my future.
It was condescending and soooo ableist. I wanted to roll my eyes every other word. I’m surprised I got more than 50 pages in. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
As a newbie to the self-help game, I thought there was some positive advice that I will take into my own life. But the idea that people who are depressed or poor are doing so to be the victim and should just let it go ruined the book from me and I ended up not finishing it.

Manifest, meditate, be grateful, love yourself and forgive. There. Now you don’t have to read the book.
It wasn’t bad, necessarily, just nothing new.

It is so easy to hate this book right off the bat. I stopped it several times before deciding to continue. She said something that made me want to know a little more. Yes, the author can be very annoying, sometimes childish, often silly, and over-simplifying some very hard stuff .... but sometimes you need to hear the same thing a very different way and when I listened to this, I needed some of the silly and even dumb reminders to get myself back into a state of flow and ease with my goals. Jen Sincero is not for everyone, and for the longest time, I didn't think she was "for me" either, and yet, I have to say, she did a good job with this book. Like I said, easy to hate and may not be for you, and yet, if you are listening to it not for answers so much as for a kick in the butt to get started, to stop complaining and dealing life in excuses already, this may be just what the doctor ordered. I'm giving her a 4-stars and glad I read it.
