Words can’t describe how good this book is. It’s a challenge to even review without giving anything away. I will say this… you will go on an emotional journey that seamlessly weaves together real world themes of oppression leaving you breathlessly drained in the end. It’s such an enrapturing read you don’t even noticed the page count. The magic system is clever & language learning so interesting making me appreciate the history of languages more than ever previously thought. Foot notes were nice, helpful & not intrusive. For a book with such a strong message it brilliantly highlights the complex and insidious nature of colonialism & racism that radiates everywhere in an oppressive system. Also deeply appreciated addressing the aspect of the white knight mentality which not everyone may be happy to read ( especially if they a Regan fan if you catch my drift). The ending is heartbreakingly beautiful and poetic and again complex addressing the ways of which we go about bringing change in an unjust world. Highly recommend to absolutely everyone!

I am unwell. this was exceptional.
(especially reading this with everything that's going on right now in Palestine, with every system of colonialism slowly giving way!!)(my gallery is also filled with photos of quotes from the book)
