I found it a bit slow about halfway through and felt there was a lot left unresolved but for some reason it was still fantastic.

This is my first R. F. Kuang book, and i am not disappointed. It's well written, thought provoking, emotional, and reflective of even today's society.
Robin's internal struggle of identity is well balanced with Ramy and Victoire's "sleeper cell" vibes. They both know who they are, even though they present differently on the outside. Robin's has to find himself - likely because he was taught not to see himself as he is, but what they want him to be.
The themes of colonialism, language being used as power, and identity struggles are well thought out and dispersed. It fits the era of the novel, but can still be seen in the modern day.
I would have liked a longer epilogue describing what happened "after," but that is just personal preference for me. Overall, great book to read!
