Robin Swift was infuriating for the most part. There are lots of irrational characters and odd choices.

Amazing world-building! The magic system was so creative and unique without being too over-explanatory.  Character development was great in some ways - it captured the pain of realizing your complicity in an oppressive system so well - and a bit thin in others. A bit heavy handed at times, though I guess that colonial oppression doesn’t always allow for subtlety.
