I love Jo nesbo but staying up at 3am to finish this trust me is not worth it.
Not because the book is not worth it but for the sake of my sanity.. how the fuck am I supposed to find sleep after those gruesome scenes? I’ll be thinking them for days!

Harry is not my favorite detective, but I do love all of the supporting characters. I felt like I couldn't get into this, maybe because I read it to sporadically at the laundromat every couple of weeks, but the final confrontation (as was the case with The Bat) did draw me back in and make me want to read more of the series.

Den var bedre end den første. Bliver bare lidt træt af det der så mange krimi-forfattere gør til sidst i deres bøger, mere eller mindre vellykket: en krølle, på krøllen og så liiiige en krølle til. Det er irriterende når det bliver krøllet og konstrueret

okej. przez pierwsze 3/4 powieści myślałam, że książka jest po prostu słaba, ale w ostatniej 1/4 przekonałam się, że jest nie tylko słaba, ale też żałosna. błędy popełniane przez głównego bohatera są wyciągnięte z tyłka, żeby nie kończyło się zbyt dobrze, a dodatkowo bohater koniecznie musi cały czas przeżywać swoje traumy i lamentować. wygadał wszystko mordercy, bo "I wanted to see his reaction". no naprawdę?
jedna z ostatnich scen, jak nagle dowiadujemy się, że hole próbował połączyć sprawę swojej siostry z mordercą z tej części, była tak absurdalna, że skręciło mnie z zażenowania. co to za pomysł w ogóle...
autor ma też chyba jakiś fetysz. pierwsza ukochana hole'a umarła (nie pamiętam jak, samobójstwo, wypadek? coś tragicznego na pewno), w pierwszej części serii nowa ukochana ginie (bo hole jest idiotą), a ws tej części z kolei ginie (też przez hole'a) dziewczyna, z którą poczuł emocjonalną więź. typie, skończ XD

This is an improvement on the first book, though the flawed detective is a well trodden path. One or two bits of the writing is a bit sloppy, this may be the translation; someone who speaks one sentence is not talking at length. I am warming to Harry Hole, though if he keeps on like this he will depopulate the earth. He's more deadly than COVID.
