This novel had plenty of action and was a gripping read, the only reason it wasn't a 5 star read is that I felt that characters could have been developed a little more. Regardless of this it was an enjoyable read and I will most certainly have to read through some of Gemmell's other novels.

Incredible storytelling, beautiful sharp writing, vivid action scenes, and characters that are as compelling and captivating as they are determined in their cause. Genuinely one of my favorite things I've ever read.
