This is the perfect example why I don't trust people. It doesn't matter if the person is a stranger, friend or family. You never truly know a person. You only know what they want to show you. Ted Bundy must have been really good at deceiving people or the people he deceived must have been extremely naive or both.
While this book was very well written, the subject matter weighed down the reading process. I'm glad I read it, but I will never read it again. Ted Bundy was a very sick individual because he knew what he was doing and he enjoyed it.

I picked this up hoping for a story on either denial or the experience perspective of someone who knew and loved someone who did terrible things. Every evil person in history has had siblings, friends, neighbors, teachers, etc who said “but he was a great boy” and “what? He could never do such a thing” and Ann was that person to Ted Bundy. While Ann does at times describe her denial and reckoning it is very minor and unexplored. The bulk of the book is a cliff notes/Wikipedia entry of Ted Bundy as a serial killer. For that it’s a fine, good, summary but for what I was expecting it fails.
The first person experiences made this special. I love her books but this was more empathetic.

I never thought I would finish this book. Even though it was extremely long, I did learn a lot from reading it. It was a little repetitive but kept me interested until the end. I do recommend reading it.
