Rereading an amazing book series. Love all the characters and the story telling and relationships. I wish I could save Clary & Jace from the cruelty of Valentine.

The book was great. I had already seen the movie which is the main reason I wanted to read the book in the first place. To see if indeed there was this super surprising moment when you find out that Clary and Jace are supposedly brother and sister. I still don't believe that they are no matter what this first book says. I believe that as the series progresses I'll find out that they're not. That she does indeed have a brother but just not Jace.
Clary to me throughout that book is really uncertain. Frozen in fear most of the time. She doesn't know how to handle this new part of herself so when things happen she freezes up. Which means that somebody else has to come to her rescue. It's not a bad thing per se just that I would have like to see her gain more confidence by the end of the book.
Jace on the other hand is this really confident guy that claims to not feel that much for anybody. He says,"To love is to be destroyed" or something along those lines. But with Clary you see this whole other side of him, she softens his edges makes him more approachable. He wants to protect her, hold her, help her, be there for her, which is a totally new thing for him. Which makes the whole brother and sister thing incomprehensible to me. They can't feel the way they feel about each other and be related. Sorry, that doesn't work for me.
Alec and Isabelle are cool. I like them. I like that Alec is in love with Jace but Jace has no clue. That Isabelle is jealous of Clary but in the end finds out that she does care about her.
Simon annoys me. Sorry. He's all,"I love you, I need you, but you don't need me. But I'm going to help you anyways." Please Simon choose where you want to be when it concerns Clary and stay there. You're giving me a headache. But I like him. He's always there and even if he didn't love her he would still be there.
Luke is badass. I know he feels guilty a little, but he would do anything for Clary and Jocelyn.
Jocelyn frustrates me I get that she had to pretty horrible times in her life and she's trying to protect her daughter but seriously? You have to give her something. I mean she couldn't really believe that she was going to be able to run for the rest of her life that's just not logical especially because she KNEW Valentine wasn't actually dead.
Valentine is badass. He manipulates the people around him to suit his goals. Makes them believe what they want him to believe. He is a kick-ass villain. I love to hate him. He's awesome. I mean he's using Clary's weaknesses against her, making her think things that she believes can't be true. Taking her mother away from her. His own flesh and blood. That's skill.

I finished this book in a span of two days. I blew of my tuition class to help Clara and Jace find Simon. I cried when the book ended and cried even harder when the movie came out.

This book gives readers a chance to create their own little Shadowhunter world in their mind. The places I imagined while reading this book seemed so real that I can never forget them. This book brought out so many emotions in me that I scared myself. One of the most significant emotion I remember was anger when Jace and Clara finally kissed but got interrupted by the bloody bird and then by Simon. And then at the ending when they found out they were siblings.

The City of Boned forced me to buy the whole series and I can't put any of them down. One book after another, it's like a whirlwind of pages.
