I hated how this was written in 3rd person I kept getting lost and the start wasn't as gripping as her other books. I couldn't have persisted but I just couldn't get into this

Whelp... I have no clue how I feel about this one.

Plot wise, this is definitely a decent book. The plot twist where
the timelines were actually past and present were decently done, and it tied in together well
. However, the writing of this novel is where the book fell really, really flat for me. I thought it was bad when I was reading it, and then I read it to my fiancĂ©... "It sounds like Wattpad writing" was his only response.

There was no emotion in the novel. It was very "tell-not-show" and shallow. And Freida writing a romance arc... Not good at all, in my opinion. There was no chemistry.

And then last, but most certainly not least... Not only was she fatphobic in this (no one is surprised), but she was also incredibly derogatory toward a houseless woman, who
DID NOTHING. Her role was literally just a red-herring
. I hated how Maureen was treated by Freida. And then of course there were the few instances where she basically states a woman will only ever be happy and fulfilled when she's married with kids (even characters who've chosen not to have kids "regret" it...). Though none of this is shocking, because Freida makes her stance very clear--but I will point it out every single time.
