I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I was a poetry person. I REALLY enjoyed vuongs novel and the way he wrote and I wanted to read more of his works but I don't think I understand the poetry to it's full extent/I didn't get quite as much of it. Despite that, the writing was still very beautiful and it made me feel things which I enjoyed. It's definitely a me thing and not an issue with the book, if you're good at/enjoy reading poetry you should most definitely read this book.
