Well, my heart is broken. A good read, but I'm sad

A riveting modern soap opera through the perspective of a loving family dog.

I just knew it would be far too sad an ending for me🙁 I was crying already and I was only 38 pages in 😩

Throughly enjoyed this book as a fan of dogs. However, possibly not the best book to read so soon after losing one of my own dogs. I did go in blind not knowing what the book was about so hardly Matt Haig’s fault.

TW for book: suicide, infidelity, death of animals.

This was a humourous, astute and heartbreaking book in equal measures. Like in a Shakespearean tragedy, you can sense the inevitability of the ending throughout, but it still catches you off guard somehow.
Matt Haig explores the meaning of family, loyalty, love and tradition, and delivers this in a simple narrative through the unusual perspective of the Judge family's dog, Prince.
This books reads fast, but I think it will stay with me a while.

Beautifully written, giving a fresh and strange perspective on humans and their families. The ending was very chilling but still reassuring, and made me question everything about everything. A must for anyone who can get their hands on it, especially for dog-lovers.
