This one was a surprise: started off in a fairly pedestrian manner and ooooo so Japanese rigid structural framework both for the story and for the characters that seem so shallow. after the murder and the coverup the book kicks into another gear with the arrival of Yukawa the physicist and layers start peeling off Ishigami. Things get even more interesting with the arrival of the hopeful Kudo and even more of the characters are revealed. As it all falls apart the book hits a brilliant twist in the end. It started as a 3 star moves into 4star and ends on a higher note.

If you do not like Japanese movies don't bother. this book mimics the outward lack of personality in the characters, framed in stilted polite conversation and averted gazes, but the book's brilliance is how those shreds of conversation, those involuntary eye movements can betray such passion to sacrifice so much for so little in return.

The book had piqued my interest for some time, but it wasn't until the release of its Bollywood adaptation that I found myself eager to read it before watching the movie.

Although I haven't seen the film yet, I must emphasize that the book was truly fantastic. Dealing with the similar character names posed a bit of a challenge, but the overall experience was incredibly rewarding.

Once you start reading, it's nearly impossible to put the book down. If you're a fan of suspense thrillers, this is undoubtedly a must-read.

Baiklah karena aku suka mysteri jadi baca karya Keigo Higashino tentang detektif saga. Cerita awalnya bagus seperti cerita detektif umumnya.

Pas bagian alibi??? Haa bisa-bisanya kepikiran nambahin sepeda sama tiket bioskop. Lawannya berat nih, ngelawan ahli matematika.

Dunia memang sempit sekali ya. Gak disangka lho, ishigami sama yukawa ternyata satu angkatan dan sahabatan juga semasa kuliah. Memang tak terduga ya.

Sempet bingung kok Ishigami bisa tau kegiatan Yasuko. Eh jebul nguntit :") Serem juga ya. Ambisi saking sukanya sama orang berujung jadi penguntit serem banget.

Suka sama karya beliau, karena alurnya yang santai terus pas bagian klimaksnya bener2 diluar nalar, kayak "eh serius nih?"
