I loved this book. I especially appreciated that the moment I wondered "where are the trans dragons" was the moment the trans dragons showed up.

Exquisite. Exquisite! I can write paragraphs of nitpicky thoughts about books I like but books I love often turn my brain to mush. This is one of those books I think

This book is full of love, rage, vindication, revenge, grief,… do yourself a favor & just read it!

A quick but lasting read

Although I do think the end of the book could have stood to get a haircut of about 50 pages or so (typical youth fiction author feels the need to play out the entire lives of her characters) the book was an interesting foray into magical realism, with some really difficult hit-too-close-to-home moments and some beautiful passages toward the end. I wish the author had spent more time with the dragons (and clearly, she wanted to, hence the drag toward the end) but what time we did get was lots of fun.

I felt angry while reading so much of the book, but the kind of anger that lights the fires of change. The kind of anger that comes from understanding the ignoring and the forgetting. I highly recommend the book, just be prepared to feel a lot.

This was a good book, I just felt like it was missing something. There was too much of certain things (hello repetition!) and not enough of other things, leaving the book feeling a bit unbalanced for me.

I could tell that the author usually writes for a younger audience and I'm not sure if her writing style fully translates to an adult audience. There were still a lot of really beautiful lines and emotional storytelling, so I still enjoyed the book. I just think it could have been better.
