I would get hooked and not want to put the book down. Then I'd put it down and have a tough time picking it back up. Thank goodness I discovered how to listen to it instead! I found some of the story completely farfetched, but overall I enjoyed the time I spent with this one.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing for the ARC of Never Ask Me in exchange for my review.
This was my first Jeff Abbott book. I wanted it because of the synopsis - it drew me in immediately! A woman found dead on a park bench in a quiet, safe neighborhood in Austin? I'm all about it!

Here's what I liked:
-perspectives from just about every character
-takes in place in Austin, TX but also has some scenes in Saint Petersburg, Russia (sounds cold!)
-strong family dynamics & neighbors aspect
-twists I didn't see coming at all
-kept me on my toes

Overall this one was a win for me. There wasn't much I didn't like - I would have finished it in a sitting if I could have!

Wow. I was hooked on this book from the first chapter! The plot follows a family whose neighbor was discovered murdered in their neighborhood. It is told through several viewpoints. In addition to the viewpoints of the family members, there are chapters written as a transcript from police interviews, an excerpt from a tv show, and excerpts from a book that was written about the ordeal. It was so exciting and personal. You really felt a lot of empathy for these characters. I have not read anything by this author before, but I will certainly check out the rest of his work!

Ooohhh ok I liked this. Yes it's 2:20am and I stayed up to finish!
I'll admit the ending wrapped up quickly and I was struggling trying to piece it all together. I had to go back and reread a few sections! But that's because this story had A LOT of moving pieces and spider webs of mess and Who Dunnit. Ultimately, this was a very unique story line and there was a lot I didn't see coming. Many twists, many turns.
I will say I don't feel like we wrapped up enough those crazy neighbors who never got a kid? Like how were they involved?? Are they being punished? Hate them.
Overall, very captivating. I was very hooked! I'll be looking into more by this author!

My first Abbott book after my dad has been raving about him for months!
I genuinely liked it and loved all the twists along the way! I honestly don’t get the negativity, he’s doing a great job at keeping the mystery until the end.
And my dad is never wrong!

This book was clever and had a very original plot (for me anyway) which made it fun. It was a bit convoluted and had a lot of moving parts that made the 50 pages feel a little rushed. The last page was truly something from a made for TV movie but I give it a pass because over all the book was good.

What a ride!
This book has international adoption, CIA, espionage, hacking, spying, murder, and family all rolled into a really good mystery read.
Keeps you guessing all the way through to the end.
