this was a delightful little book! i greatly enjoyed learning about all these animals. one of my favorite things about it was that most of the animals were known to me, giving me a great platform to build on. there was a mix of a few new animals to me which keep it fresh and interesting.

one thing i didn’t love was the audiobook narrator. if this book was longer, i’m not sure that i would have gotten through the whole audiobook. despite that, i really enjoyed the book.

i enjoyed the call to action pieces of this book. while other reviewers described this as “liberal propaganda”, this is the reality of endangered species. humans are the greatest threat to these creatures. that’s not a political talking point, it’s simply the unfortunate truth.

overall, this was a quick read, and one that i would recommend for anyone who loves nature and animals.

What should be a joyful exploration into the extraordinary world we live in is actually ended with liberal propaganda. This book is condescending. The prose is written in passive voice, making it an awkward read at best. This author condemns the human species while listing her own interaction with some of these species which violate the very tenants, she is espousing.
