Excellent read, as always (from Harlan)!! Enjoyed the main character. Loved the twist at the end!
Daaaaaang. I did not see this one coming. I'm still reeling a bit from the ending because it was so unexpected. The beginning of this book pulled me in, but I'll admit I started to tire of the story. It seemed like it was going to wrap up rather predictably... not the case. I still kind of question the rationality of the ending, but I'm just over-analyzing it. A good, semi-light thriller. I can see why there is so much hype around it. I've never read Coben before, but I might need to go back and check out some of his past work.

I actually started watching the Netflix series based on this book and didn't end up finishing it but felt intrigued enough to look into the book. The book and the TV show mirror each other but I also never finished the shows I cannot speak for the ending.
Overall this book tugged highly on mystery with leads on multiple murders. I enjoyed the character development of Maya and Eddie. Overall thought the other supporting characters were kind of thrown in but not much about them (Caroline, Shane, Eileen). At times especially towards the end I felt like this book had a lot going on where it felt a little forced. Even though that is true I greatly enjoyed the ending and the aftermath that was projected multiple years in the future. I felt as though this made me fall for the supporting characters even more.

I don't like this much, I rarely read Mystery/Thriller book. I don't like the writing style, too. It doesn't feel full of suspense to me. I just kept going because I want to know how the ending was, the journey going there is just bearable. I didn't see the ending coming, but at least I got explanation for everything.

Full disclosure: I read this book after reading Nobody's Fool since this is book one in the Kierce series. I had questions after book 2 (specifically about Nicole/Tad Grayson and why Kierce was kicked off the force) that I was hoping would be answered by reading this book.
Going back and reading Fool Me Once afterwards and not having my questions answered, was bothersome, but I also wasn't as big of a fan of the story. Coben does write amazing twists and turns but I just didn't care too much for Maya and what happened to her (though, again, I loved how everything came together!). I found myself rolling my eyes at a lot of her actions and reasonings for things. Was not a fan of the ending. But the way clues are dropped throughout the story and picked up later to tie into this or that--that's the magic that I enjoy.

Wow. So good. Loved it. Kept you guessing the entire time with an awesome pay off at the end. The book description leads you to believe the entire book may be structured around the woman wondering if she's going crazy by seeing her dead husband on a nanny cam. Thankfully, it does not linger on that for too long. The book is a compelling journey of the woman searching for answers.
There were many twists to this story, most I didn't see coming, which was a lot of fun. Maya's husband has been murdered, oh, and her sister was murdered four months before that. Are they connected and if so, how? As the answers slowly come out the story gets stranger and stranger, yet tighter and tighter. Fantastic writing, very fast paced, really kept you guessing and a well thought out ending that didn't just end with something convoluted. I can't wait to read more from Coben!
