Harlan Coben war mir als Name zwar bekannt, aber gelesen hatte ich bislang noch nichts von ihm.
Über meine private Lesechallenge bin ich nun auf den aktuellen NYT-Bestseller "Fool Me Once" gestoßen. Gerechnet hatte ich mit einem typischen Amithriller: viel Action, genug Spannung, die üblichen Verdächtigen.
Erwartet hat mich allerdings ein extrem guter Psychothriller gepaart mit einigen Toten, vielen Rätseln und sogar ein paar sehr emotionalen Situationen.
Ich hab das Buch innerhalb von zwei Tagen verschlungen. Wirklich genial geschrieben und absolut empfehlenswert!

this book became one of my favorite books in an instant!! the plot twists are insane, i could never have guessed them. it's just sad how maya ended up, she knew what's gonna happen to her and still went for it. and if we think about it, she's someone who doesn't care about collateral damage as long as she protects one of her own, so she'd rather die avenging her sister and letting the world know about the Burketts so her child would have a peaceful life. THE BEST. HARLAN COBEN NEVER DISAPPOINTS

3.5 stars. Read this book, because I wanted to watch the series on Netflix but felt like I should read the book first. I enjoyed the mystery of the story, but just didn’t have me on the edge of my seat wanting to know more. Excited to see how the tv series compares to the book.

I debated whether to give this 3 or 4 stars because it held my interest, the plot was well-paced and it ended with an unexpected twist. But although I enjoyed it, I couldn’t rate the book as a terrific read. Maya’s husband is brutally killed and dies in her arms. This tragedy follows the violent murder of Maya’s only sister, a mere four months earlier. In the aftermath, Maya sees vision of her newly deceased husband on that day’s nanny cam, which triggers her quest to discover the truth of what exactly is going on. Her investigations lead to more than she expected - secrets, lies, corruption, and another murder in the family, all linked.
