I remembered this as my favorite of the Huxtable books. I love seeing Margaret, the eldest Huxtable sister who sacrificed her romantic opportunity to remain and take care of her orphaned siblings, having the chance to rebel a little from being the good girl. And I love the subverting of the second chance romance plotline, in which Margaret comes to see that if she'd married that early love, she probably wouldn't have been happy now. And I love the insight that Duncan shares with Margaret: that those who are all about serving others deny others the chance to love when they do not make themselves vulnerable ever.
But I'd totally forgotten the ugly homophobic climatic backstory revelation, and felt disappointed in my past self for rating the book so highly in spite of it thee first time I read it. So, 4 stars without that ugly twist, 1 star because of it.

My favourite in the series so far. I really enjoyed the characters and the dialog. An enjoyable read.

I really need a romance-only scale. Because, as far as all books go, this was more like a three. But, it was good for what it was intended to be. The characters are charming (or villainous according to their role), the story had nice plot twists, and it wrapped up nicely at the end. Parts were a bit repetitive. But, that's not too bad of a complaint. I would read the next book in the series if it was also given to me.

Thought this was going to be a palette cleanser, more like palette confusion.

A sweet and cute addition to the series. Although this one was a bit more serious.

Meg and Duncan are great, but this one was lacking.
