This one was so much better than the first book! The characters were so much more enjoyable, there were some very cool creatures, and
Spoiler Abigail kissed Charlie AHHHHHH!!!
. I just enjoyed this book so much more.

The plot was well-paced and there definitely is something intriguing about Jackaby. It's a shame he's not the main character. While Abigail stood out in the first novel, she seemed to fall flat in this one. Her contribution seemed to be more about observations than being involved in the plot. I will probably be roped into reading the third one as the author does a good job of creating the world.

This book had a slower pace than the first. The ending was exciting but I had a hard time getting there. I could have done without the many chapters of paleontology politics that weren’t very necessary to the plot.

Gripping story with interesting characters. This second book in the Jackaby series is even better than the first, with Abigail Rook getting more confortable in her new world.

well this was definitely an improvement on the first Jackaby book. I still think it takes way too long for anything exciting to happen though. As in the first one, things only started really popping by the 70% mark. Still though, the monster vs characters fight was tres great!!
I doubt Jackaby will ever be a five star read for me but it's definitely an enjoyable book. One more complaint though, Abigail really needs to start wearing trousers. Not sure how it's even possible to evade paranormal malignant shit wearing a dress that gets in the way of everything.
