What a wonderful book and what a wonderful reading.
I’ve never related to a male character as I have with Ethan. It is amazing how much of myself I see in him.
And the story is just amazing. The changing timelines are brilliant and I just couldn’t put the book down.

Audiobook- excellent narration
This book has been reviewed enough times. You don't need another review of the story. This was a book I would have passed on if it weren't for some friends reviews. They sold it, and I'm so glad I listened. Romantic, intense, infuriating and sweet.
Great characters with realistic problems that made me want to scream in frustration. They are both young, dumb, insecure and carry issues around, love/lust came at them fast and they weren't really ready for it. So they dove in, got trampled, broke into bits and then their was a knock on the door. Fade to black, it ended on one heck of a cliffhanger.
Yes, I had to click away to get book 2 in the middle of the night ! Warning get both books don't wait.

This book really took me by surprise. I loved the style of writing. The switches from past to present. As a fan of theater I really enjoyed the in depth classes and explanations while also keeping it light and fun. This is my favorite kind of love story. The kind that sucks you in and you really have no idea how it's going to end. Can they overcome the hardships and stupid decisions to truly make a relationship work? Is there a way to come back from the hurt the person you love has caused you, and if so will it ever truly be the same?

This book was absolutely wonderful. I read it in one sitting and moved right on to Broken Juliet. I can't wait to start Wicked Heart! If you're looking for a new series to suck you in, this is it! Love it.

ok so, wow. wow, wow. it was such a cute book, but i think it's a little problematic?? and kinda clichéd???

""" pressure me """" not cute.
""" straight guy at a transgender beauty contest """" what?
and then all the slut-shaming. im just so, sigh. i get that the book is set in real life, and real life is problematic but,, honestly? you could make up a better character for the all so wonderful cassie. [sigh] and ethan,, he's so well, stupid? not to mention possessive and has issues and im just a big ball of MEH by the end of the book. i honestly hoped for more.

It makes sense that this was originally twilight fan fiction. I was in love from page one. The brooding bad boy loner meets sweet girl who pulls him out of his shell. I really enjoyed this book. I’m not normally a second chance romance fan, or a fan of books that go back and forth between them and now, but both worked for me in this book. I enjoyed both of the characters. I felt their connection, and I literally laughed out loud a few times.

THIS WAS SO GOOD!!

Critically
Plot – 5 out of 5 stars
The set up of this book switches between the main character’s freshmen year of college and onward and six years later in the beginning of the set up of their new play. It’s so raw! It’s emotional, dramatic, angsty and passionate. I feel like this is the type of New Adult book that I want to see. It’s real life, not an over exaggeration of the fact. It’s just so honest, and I loved it!
Writing Style – 4 out of 5 stars
It has a very steady pace which is good considering all of the emotional things that are happening. It’s raw and powerful. But it’s also fun and sexy. I mean, it’s New Adult right? One of my favorite things about it is the way she does metaphors. It’s just so good. READ THIS! haha
Characters – 4 out of 5 stars
They are amazing! The great thing about the structure of this book is that we get to see the growth of both the characters from one point of their lives to another. Cassie, our main character, is sweet and a tiny bit naive in the beginning. As a freshman, she’s hopeful and starts to become bold and determined. She has a very positive outlook on life and is just ready to learn and grow. When you meet her in the present, it’s a complete 180. She’s closed off, has nervous ticks and is quick to let loose her temper. The story unfolds and explains how that change came to be. Same thing happens with our male protagonist, Ethan. In the past, he’s moody, tortured and rude. One of those types of male protagonists that pull you in because of how closed off he is. But at the same time, he’s incredibly passionate, specially about acting. Once we see him in the present, again he’s like a completely different person. He’s persistent and open and honest. It’s very interesting how their characters flipped and became sort of like each other. IT’S SO GOOD!

Emotionally
SpoilerThis is the first fanfiction turned novel that I’ve ever read and I’m happy to say that I absolutely loved it!

The plot is intense. We follow Cassie at two different moments in her life. her freshman year of college and then six years later as she is cast in the lead role of a new play with her ex-boyfriend, Ethan. This book is full of humor and angst and first times and drama and first love. This book is basically about the main characters and their relationship, how it happened, when it happened, why it ended. It sound like just any other New Adult book when I describe it that way but it’s so much more than that. It’s a real representation of being heartbroken and how that affects you and how you deal with life and people. It’s a representation of how to move on and move forward. How to forgive those who’ve wronged you and how really truly hard that is to do. I love the journey Cassie begins in this book and it’s great to see their relationship before by tiny bits so it brings this element of mystery and suspense. It keeps you on your toes, thinking what went wrong? It’s awesome as well to see the changes in each character’s personality because it’s part of the plot itself, how these changes forces them to confront and re-evaluate their past together and apart.

Cassie is one of my favorite characters ever. I feel like I say this a lot about female protagonists but this is one of those characters that really hits close to home. I related to her so much in her college years. She’s so excited but at the same time, nervous about her career and her classes and these decisions she’s making. At the same time though, she’s very positive, which is good, but sometimes it makes her naive and it places her in relationships that do more harm to herself than good. Which is why six years later, she has extreme trust issues and is more the type of girl to hook up and nothing else. In this book we see more of why she became the way she is and it was such an interesting story.

Ethan was hard to warm up to in the college years. He’s a very obviously damaged person and I think at times he purposely used Cassie to feel better about himself because she was always believing in him. But at the end of the day, the person that has to believe in you, is you. He let his doubts and fears get to him and it caused a lot of destruction in his life. It’s sad and frustrating and it makes you angry but it’s something that I can relate to on a very deep emotional level.

This book ends at a giant CLIFFHANGER. GAH. It was so annoying and frustrating but at the same time sets a very clear line between the two books. The first is setting you up and explaining what’s going on and the second is getting over that barrier: learning to forgive.

Then, he was the badass who wanted nothing to do with Cassie.

Now, Cassie had her heart broken by Ethan 3 years ago and wants nothing to do with him.

Until fate throws them together to be costars in a Broadway play.
The story takes place both in the present and 6 years earlier when Cassie and Ethan first met at The Grove. There is sexual tension from the beginning and as much as Ethan wants to deny it, even to himself, after a while he can’t hide it from anyone.

I love Cassie’s character... she is a people pleaser and just wants to fit in, except when she’s around Ethan. Obsessed with sex, she has a very dirty mind and it is hilarious. She is a very unique character.

The writing between their actual characters and when they are portraying their characters on the stage is amazing. I love how seamlessly it flows and how the transition for the characters as they are acting is portrayed.

I feel this is definitely a book I would read again.
