I listened to the audio, but not on a CD. Since Goodreads no longer trusts me to add an edition, I will write the review here. It picked up seemingly from where the last book ended, from the main character's point of view. Apparently many months had gone by. I was never sure if he went straight from the first book to the second, or if there were other adventures for him in between. Other than that, I had a good time. Seems picky to me, too.

A solid follow up to a great first book. I appreciated that we could get right into the story now that we have background out of the way. Still heavy on description but when it comes to intertwining all sorts of historical and mythological creatures in new and interesting ways – and making great pop-culture references – this book rocks it. I can’t wait for the next book to find out more about Graves and what he’s going to do about his life and about our other characters. This book sets up more characters and twists and turns I can’t wait until they come up later.

A lot more complicated mystery this time. A tad bit more predictable, leaving the ending feeling drawn out - when we’ve known who, what and how the creature will die – for a while. However, that doesn’t mean the action, fights, and overall questions we’re left with don’t hold weight. There’s a foreboding sense of the dangers to come and I can’t wait for them.

I love this premise and the characters are unique. The book is enjoyable, as is the series.

If you like Kadrey or Blackmoore you should like this book.

The second in the Grave Report did not disappoint. After the not-so Grave Beginning, Grave Measures dealt out another thrilling ride. Once again, Vincent Graves is the head of the show, and he is as sarcastic as ever before.

You'd think possessing the body of a dead guy in a mental institution would put a damper on anyone's sense of humor. But not Vincent Graves. Once again, he provides us with humor as well as a new supernatural mystery to solve with the same gumption and dedicated ambition as the famed Inigo Montoya in search of his father's killer. With the ever-lovely Detective Camilla Ortiz at his side, Vincent Graves is once again in a race against time to find and stop this supernatural killer.
