Really good installment of the Magic Treehouse series.

Jack and Annie are invited to spend Christmas in Camelot, and find the mythical kingdom under a spell of despair. Three of the kingdom's best knights have failed in their quest to restore joy to the kingdom, and now it's up to Jack and Annie to try to accomplish what the knights could not.

Mary Pope Osborne does a nice job of weaving elements of Arthurian mythology into the story while keeping it accessible to young readers. I smiled at the subtle grail-quest references.

The kids get into some pretty serious imperilment in this book. Sometimes in this series the kids seem like spectators while the action happens around them. Definitely not the case here, as they face some tough challenges.

This is part of the "Merlin Missions" set of the series, which incorporates more fantasy elements into the stories.

We listened to this on audiobook in the car together. I kept stopping the story to make sure the kids were still listening and every time I paused it they begged to keep listening. It was nice to see some extra length and depth added to these books and their characters.

I was reading this with Isaac but about halfway through he gave up on it - said he didn't want to read anymore. I do think I read it back in 2009 to Blake when he was 5.

I just wanted a fun book to read so I picked this for the nostalgia. Obviously, it was an easy read and only took one night. Brought back fond memories :) honestly would read all the Magic Treehouse books again, I think one day I will.

Umm, why am I still going with this series. Honestly this series is just... mehh.

Jack and Annie seem like the kids that everyone wants to be. I hate it. This is literally the most boring series evahhhh.

I think I don't even remember much, let me see.

Wizards. Treehouses. A girl called Morgan. Otherworld. Legends. Magicians (???)

Fun festive book to read with the family today. I'm sure I've read this at some point but had forgotten enough of the story that it felt fresh.
