I read this book for a book club that I was in, and I found it to be a fascinating read. Not my favorite by any means, but I find the concept of turning something as aspirational as dimension traveling into grunt work for the poor that (mild spoilers)
the rich are actively trying to replace
to be deeply interesting. It's one of the things that I love about Afrofuturism. It's important to take these concepts that we are aspiring to and consider who it is being built off of and what the consequences of that are for society at large. This book does a great job of exploring that.

Y'all, I can't with this book. It was so freaking good.

We follow Kara who's one skill in her current life is that she is dead on over 160 parallel worlds. This means that she can travel to the other worlds and gather data.

The story twists and turns and is filled with Sapphic longing. It's a story about the endless possibilities of who we are as people, the endless number of ways we can harm each other, and the endless numbers of ways we can heal each other.

I loved it. I'm going to reread it. And I just can't believe how good this book was.

Really enjoyed this read! The first 100 or so pages were slow, a lot of setting the stage, but then by part 3 I was hooked.
  • Awesome plot/concept!
  • Some characters lacked substance, despite their relevance
  • Queer love interest
  • Dystopian classism
