eh cringed a normal amount of 123 times, that’s better than i anticipated!
i didn’t expect it to get this dark but then again there were certain trigger warnings at the beginning of the book so that just leads back to me being ignorant for thinking "it’s just a romance book how bad can it be

Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Sweltzer (book 1 of 2): 5.3/10 - this book was a decent read.. There felt to me as if the main character really drug out her abuse from her father. I didn't mind the age gap like i had initially thought like it is 100% fucking weird that a grown 30yr old is openingly in love, sexually, with an 18yr old. bUt it sure did make a good story. Now, Forest's death caught very by surprise. That shit was truly heartbreaking.. The author repeated themes throughout which felt a bit annoying. Like i get it she really loves her neighbor and the secret sex oooooo big deal and stop telling me this over and over. The spice scenes were 2/5 for me,i enjoyed her naive (?) way of sex and his experience. Alana made this recommendation to me and i can't say i loved the book, but this was way better than her first recommendation.

"Wildflowers are strong. Resilient. They grow under most conditions. I want to be like that. I want to have the confidence of wildflowers - to never give up, to flourish, and thrive."
"You like me,"
"I put a gym in my house for you, and it takes stocking Diet Coke for you to realize I like you?"
"But do you like me? Like really like me, Thayer?"
"Yeah, Sunshine, I like really like you."
A HEAVY read. Please don't take the trigger warnings lightly. This book was SAD but had a lot of sweet moments.
He built a gym for her... He fired one of his employees on the spot for disrespecting her... He supported her boundaries. Overall, great book boyfriend.
AHHHHHHHHHH chapter 30......
INSANE ending.... Salem finds out she's pregnant with Thayer's child. Thayer doesn't know about the pregnancy since Salem and Thayer ended on very bad terms, and it ends on that cliffhanger.
Thayer broke Salem's heart because he was mourning the death of his child and pushed her away.

5⭐️ This book took me by complete surprise, I walked into this thinking it would be a sweet age gap romance and then it just went and OBLITERATED my heart.
I can’t say more because it’s best you go in blind but just know that this is so much deeper than your usual surface level age gap romance. You will feel the connection to these characters and their romance.
