Broken Promise
Beyond Series, Book 1
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling, Audiobook Narrator, David Black

Andrea Smith has done it again! This audiobook is nothing short of amazing. I didn’t know what to expect, but the narration team matched with Smith is what sold me. And it is had me from the opening scene. It starts out with Parrish in a car accident, in a grave yard, and the next thing I know, I am sucked into a memory of a ghost that speaks to her. Karlee’s takes us through her life, from the time she meets her soulmate Dominick until her untimely death. It’s romantic, it’s suspenseful, it’s unpredictable and it’s captivating. Her life is complicated, but she knows real love and true friends. But why is she talking to Parrish? And what does she want from her? And why can Parrish see her? I am not normally a listener of paranormal, but I there is something about ghost stories that intrigues me and this one had me entranced the entire time.

Amanda Stribling and David Black are the narration team for this gem. Stribling has a young voice and fits perfectly into the role of Karlee. She is 21, yet mature and Stribling captures her essence. Black has a deep voice and as Dominick creates the dangerous, yet lovable mystique that is a mobster. I love his voice! This team compliments each other and gave me hours of happiness.

Broken Promise by Andrea Smith is a mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amanda Stribling and David Black. The book was previously published as Silent Whisper.

I absolutely love Andrea’s books and this one is no different. I really enjoyed this mafia romance with a twist of paranormal activity with Parrish Locke being able to see the dead.  I can’t wait for the second book in the series Broken Dreams to be released on audible.

Amanda and David did an amazing job on the dual narration. They really know how to bring a story to life.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mafia romances or mystery romances.

Righting the Past

Parrish finds herself in the past learning the story of Karlie and Dominic and her place in all of it. It's a bit paranormal with Parrish realizing that she's a ghost whisperer but the bulk of the book is really the retelling of what happened to Karlie and then righting some things from the past.

There are some interesting twists and turns. The waterworks made an appearance toward the end in that bittersweet conclusion. I really enjoyed it including where Nick and Karlie "met". The mob stuff was there but that was more of a side note, annoyance from her POV.

I switched between audio and visual. I liked the narrators, Amanda Stribling and David Black. I really like when the character voices remain constant regardless of POV and that happens here.

Story: 4 stars
Narration: 4 stars

Went into this audiobook expecting yet another paranormal romances but with a hint of ghost. But ended with listening to the sweetest family drama I've read in a long time. My heart feel so warm and fuzzy and almost a little teary as the beautifulness of it all. Very much a twist that suited me in every way

This was a little different to what I usually read. More paranormal, which I didn't realise looking at the cover.

They say a ghost can't pass over until they settle their unfinished business, Parrish Locke is about to find out that she has a skill set uniquely designed to help. She just needs to embrace it.

It’s difficult to talk about this book without giving anything away. It feels like two separate stories that are told in a way to make them interconnect so well. They are interwoven wonderfully and leave you wanting more. If you like mafia stories, books with a bit of suspense and a romantic thread, with a little ghostly effect thrown in, this is the book for you.

The audiobook is performed in duet by David Black and Amanda Stribling. The majority of the story is told from the female POV with only a handful of male POV chapters, but fear not, because this is duet, you hear plenty from David Black and thank goodness as it would have been a mighty shame not to have heard his deep, growly voice throughout the story. He was perfect as Dominick. The Italian was done to a wonderful, convincing standard. I think we’re going to be seeing his name a lot in the future. Amanda Stribling did a great job of switch between Parrish and Karlee. It took me a little while to get used to her performance but once I did, it was enjoyable. The production was done well, chapter 13 did cut off early.

OMG! I am literally bawling right now! The LOVE of these two! It’s an amazingly heartfelt story and feels so real! About 5-7 min ago I was so so ANGRY at Nick! Now though I really feel the anguish and tremendous love from these two. GAH! This book is killing me! I think it’s been a while since I have flitted through so many intense emotions while listening to a story.
I really didn’t want this story to end. I realize there is nothing that can be done but the heart aches for more.

I listened to this on audio. Amanda Stribling and David Black are the narrators. Again they both did a wonderful job. David really had me with all his sexy guttural Italian words. Tesoro and Bambino etc. Wow just excellent!
Another outstanding story by Andrea Smith!
