Very much giving damsel in distress but the damsel is being a stubborn dummy. Howeverrrrr I do appreciate that she says belongs to no one after she’s being sold off like cattle. You tell ‘em sister! Stick it to the man. I just wish she stuck to her guns. She’s like “I will belong to no man!!” And then on the next page be like “WE MUST BONE!! I shall perish if you do not ravish me!!!” I could feel the feminism leaving her body one orgasm at a time.
I also think that there’s a bit of insta love happening. Like this man is obsessed with her from the jump. And for what?? He sees her one time and is like “I’d get on my knees for you girl” - hello!! Can we exchange names before you hit on her?? Even towards the end they’ve barely talked and they do not know anything about one another. I think the story could’ve don’t with a little slow burn, a little more longing and wooing.
Otherwise this has all the elements of a romantasy - royal family snobbery, hot brother princes, forbidden rendezvous, touch her and you die energy, fae/vampire magic

I had to drag myself through this book. The MMC is wholly unlikable and the FMC was unable to defend herself. None of what happens to this girl (romantic or otherwise) is fully informed if not totally un consensual. I should have DNFed.

I really enjoyed this book! Highly recommend. Beware the cliffhanger!! Make sure you have the rest of them!

Okay I did enjoy reading this but I’m not sure it was that great of a book. It was very similar to ACOTAR and FBA. So much so that the cliff hanger ending really was that surprising in my opinion.
I will also say that the story could probably have used more plot and less sex. Which I hate to say because the sex was great but it almost got in the way of the actual story.
I will say that I appreciated the characters and I wish they had been given the opportunity to develop more. I liked reading the book and I will most certainly read the next one.
