This is exactly what being a teenager and feeling suffocated by your home town feels like.
Every day I am thankful I am no longer 19 years old.

The style reminded me of Chuck Palahniuk's writing - lots of description of flesh, blood, and body parts.

Hot. Dark. Horny. Sad.
Animals Eat Each Other didn't work for me. I loved how raw it was. How flawed yet self aware everyone was in it. I loved that I could feel the reality of it, and it made me feel connected to communities in Missouri I'd forgotten how closely I'd known. But it didn't really grab me for more than a few sentences at a time. It felt like something I would have loved in high school, when things like satanism and Marilyn Manson were romantically edgy.

I'm not sure how this strange little book landed on my shelf. The story is a snippet in the life of a young woman and explored her use of and reliance on sex to build, transform, and complicate her relationships.

This novel is a good psychological exploration of how a lot of people process their relationships and themselves through the lens of attention, desire, and power, and what a narrow, claustrophobic, and overall sad life that produces.
