This book was fine. I appreciated immensely what the writer was trying to do and I think it’s an important and eye-opening topic, but, as so often with books I’ve read that are not-quite-literary, it didn’t quite fulfill the promises it made/meet expectations. I loved the beginning and felt that it grew progressively less interesting and effective.

i really liked this by the end. slow start, compelling characters, dragged a bit at the beginning and middle. felt like a debut novel in that i didn’t feel like the author was completely clear about what she wanted the book to be, but i definitely was hooked and invested. i wish it had gone on longer and we got to see mickey’s trajectory in her work and personal life. very sexy sex scene!

Just not in the right head space for this one. Started it out of obligation for a Storygraph challenge, but ended up not feeling the vibe. Well written though it is. I will come back to this one!
