The book started off as being a solid 5star, but the very detailed history about the middle east and Greece kinda got to be. There were so many more civilizations to be explored before we got to the depth of the Greeks and the Mid-East.

A very funny approach to the universe and evolution of the Earth! If you're even remotely interested in history, you're like to get sucked in and have a chuckle.
My father got me this book when I was fourteen and starting to show what would become a great love of history. I read it while I was ill and in bed, and I just gave it another read. Gonick provides a fun read, with a wee bit of a focus on Bible stories in some parts.
I'd recommend it for mature tweens and young teens. There's a little bit of a focus on sex and violence, but also given the size of the book, it may require a little bit more focus than the general comic series. However, there's no reason shared reading couldn't be utilised, especially for more mature children.
And for those adults out there- give it a go. You may just learn something!

Reread this for fun. It was a great bathroom book for me. Surprisingly a lot of it is still not out of date.

I stopped once this got into more "Western" history (Alexander the Great, etc.).
But overall, this is a fun and informative read. Good proto example of using comics to explain Big History.
