I read this book because I like James Franco. I saw the title and I honestly thought it was an angry rant against him. I looked for it and read it all at once.

This book made me feel like for a moment I had Kristy Bowen in front of me and she was just talking about her own struggles with poetry. I know this book made me realize my own struggles while writing.

One of my favourite parts talks about how she isn't trying to be "the common girl" in her poetry. How she is not trying to be many things like: "I am trying not to be the girl who falls in love with every guy who makes me laugh or feel pretty or pays me a particular, sustained sort of attention". And throughout that part, she explains all the things she doesn't want to be and somehow she sometimes is that and how she feels about it.

And then, in the middle of that reflection, James appears. He is only addressed in small parts and while you read it you realize that this poem isn't about James at all. It is about female struggle, and resistance and being aware of your creative environment.

This was a small book but it took me throughout an interesting reflection. If I recommend it, definitely. If I would read it again, YES.

I started reading your Wikipedia page, James Franco,
and frankly, have decided this is more about me than it
is about you.

That's all you need to know about the book. The author writes to and about James Franco and connects a lot of him to herself and her life. This was a good read.
