This was really good. It could easily have been an episode of the show, and one of the better episodes at that. The ending was perfect.

I'm a huge Stargate fan, so I went into it expecting to love it and I was not disappointed! The whole audiobook only runs about an hour long, so there was very little room for anything not critical to the story. Limited time they had, the adventure felt fleshed out, the characters true to the show, the stakes as high as any good episode! Michael Shanks did a great job narrating and I finished wishing he had done more!
If you like Stargate, then you need to check out this audiobook!

Disclaimer: I admit a soft spot for this franchise, which comes with a long and emotional personal history. Which made me have a very emotional reaction to this very simple and short story. I loved it, but it doesn't stand on it's own, it depend on previous experience with the franchise.

Now, this is not to say that all fans of the show will like it. Some will feel it shifts who Daniel is during almost all the run-time of the show. I personally feel it changes very little about that story, but I like the idea that him and the rest of the SGC carried this with them.

Also, Michael Shanks doing almost all the voices of the of the cast was very fun for me.

Very creepy, in a very good way. Daniel Jackson (I won't say as we've never seen him before, because we have to some extent or the other), but it is Daniel Jackson in an extreme and consequently at his best. Very heart-wrenching for a 55 minute audio drama that only has him reading the other parts. Highly recommended for any fans of the series. Casual viewers might not get the same out of it, as they make no mention of when this is supposed to take place, and only clue you in by virtue of characters that are there and characters that are not there, that this happens fairly early in the series. Fans of the series will have no trouble figuring it out, however, and I don't really see anyone who's not a huge fan of the series picking this up (about a year after the show was cancelled, if I am remembering correctly?).
