I've mixed feelings about this book. It grabbed my attention. Though, I really don't like love triangles and I didn't like some of Eugenie's choices. Also, some parts were too dark for my taste. Because of this darkness this is probably the last book in this series that I read.

För en gångs skull så är andra-boken-i-serien bättre än den första! :D

I expected better from Richelle Mead.
adventurous dark emotional medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I devoured this in one day. I know most don’t like this series as much as Vampire Academy, but I would take it 10x over. It has way more action, dynamic characters, and spice. The Kiyo v Dorian thing is great.
But I still hate Tim. If Volusian could kill him that would be great.

I liked this book better than the first one. I mean, it lacked Dorian in the beginning, but the rest of the book fixed that.
Also thank God Eugine got rid of Kiyo. I couldn't stand this guy! and also Yesabel...She is going to get her revenge and it's going to be big troube.

Holy Cow was this an excellent follow up to Storm Born. It took a much different path than I thought it would. Eugenie has come a long way in this book and the ending really makes way for a very exciting 3rd book.

I am enjoying this series so much. I love Eugenie. The storyline of this book was just...crazy. I did not expect a lot of the things that happened. Overall, this book left me ready for more in the next one!

I enjoyed this book only slightly more than the first. I was surprised that it actually evoked some emotion out of me— namely when Eugenie confronts you-know-who and later quietly says “I just want to go home and see my mother.” I admit, that broke my heart. My issues with certain aspects of this series, Tim pretending to be Native American and her holding Volusion as a slave, still remain however.

This book makes me not trust anyone, quite frankly. Everyone has their own agenda and wants to use Eugenie for their own gain. For a smart girl, she’s just not seeing this. I’m rooting for her to cast them all aside and be her own self. No more reliance on anyone. I’m hopeful she’ll find herself in the next few books.

In terms of love interests:
Kiyo is far too mild for my taste, and I feel like he’s stretching himself too thin by trying to be with both Eugenie and his new daughter. Dorian is perfect omg the surface— just the right amount of kindness and malice— but I know something dark is lurking beneath. He’s mentioned his desire to take over the whole Otherworld before, so I’m sure that will come out in the next book.

Moral of this story: kill all men, girl power ftw.

If I have one complaint about Richelle Mead, it is that her world building can get tiresome. The prose used in the universe of her novels gives the first book of the series a clumsy, halting pace.
Having gotten past all that, I was able to completely immerse myself in Thorn Queen and I positively devoured it. Eugenie gets put through hell in this book and she comes out the other side of it, remarkably, with most of her inner strength intact. I'm totally ready to dive into the third installment and find out what happens next!

4.5 stars!! I read the first book in this series a while back and just wasn't feeling it. But I really love Richelle Mead and so I had to give the series a second chance, and i am so glad that I did! I really loved this book! Everything about it was great. The storyline was interesting and very easy to get into. I love how the author makes you feel torn right along with Eugenie. I now am very excited to continue this series and find out what happens. I completely get why she is the way she is at the end, and I'm so interested to see if she continues on this path. And I think I'm Team Dorian!

I was really upset with Roland in this book though! How dare he treat her with such disdain after everything she went through, and practically disown her, just because he doesn't agree with her? Especially when her kidnapping and rape could have been prevented if he had listened to her in the first place!! But his prejudice made him ignore her and he treated her like a naive fool! I don't know why she's not angry with him! If he had listened to her about Art, he could have helped her get rid of him and prevented her getting attacked!
