very similar to EARTHLINGS in that keiko finds herself not being able to be a part of society’s “factory” (but an entirely different tone) CONVENIENCE STORE WOMAN was a very relatable read as a neurodivergent person myself. i didn’t get much more out of it beyond that, but it was nice to feel seen.

I think I feel more frustration than anything after reading this book, which probably isn’t what the author intended. Everyone in this book sucks except Keiko.

didn’t like the general stance the book took on society like i understand it but it was super depressing, generally the idea of someone being pushed to conform to society and the romantic conceptions people have and putting themself in a vulnerable position
