A surprising combination of where the crawdads sing and the bookwoman of troublesome Creek. I felt myself eerily familiar with the setting after reading the bookwoman, but this cast was unique and the plot was beautiful.

When I started this book I thought it was too similar to The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, but after a few similarities, it has a completely different plot and completely different character types! I really loved this book and the female friendships fostered between the characters. JUST READ IT!! You won’t regret it!

Read this for book club and had no expectations at all going in. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Each of the ladies was very lovable in their own way. I also appreciate that most of the men characters were also fine. Upstanding men, for novel set at this time in history that seems to be rare. So it was very refreshing to see some kindness and lovingness from these characters.

Just excellent! I've never read any JoJo Moyes before and wasn't sure how I would like this. It is wonderfully written, great character development and a truly engaging story. Fiction based on fact.
